Vintage Collectibles

Vintage CollectiblesVintage collectables offer collectors a special item to add to their personal array. Not quite ancient, not exactly new, vintage collectibles represent a retro feel that certain collectors find irresistible. Many vintage collectibles are valuable due to their rarity and popularity among collectors of both young and old. Loosely classified as any item 20 years or older, vintage collectibles range from action figures, to t-shirts, to comics and beyond. The main appeal of vintage collectables is the fact that many of the popular items are simply older renditions of modern items still in print. Prime examples of vintage items are records, baseball cards, and as mentioned earlier, comic books. Enthusiasts of such items crave to own the root items in their specific area of collecting, thus making vintage collectibles must haves for die hard collectors. Many vintage collections spawn from a simple desire for complete sets and obtaining duplicates along the way. Many individuals have made a living off of selling duplicates of vintage collectibles while maintaining their original collection. It often comes as a surprise that vintage collectibles are often items that aren’t seen as extremely valuable when purchased at retail value, but skyrocket in price and demand within the secondary market.

Part of getting into collecting is the goal of obtaining the best and rarest of vintage collectibles. It’s as much about the journey as the potential profit to be made. Vintage collectibles are often obtained after traveling the world in search of those few missing pieces to a collection. Those who are just getting into collecting may have trouble getting into vintage collectibles, but there is a certain allure for those who are just hitting their older ages. Many young collectors have dropped off in the hobby because a lot of the extremely old collectibles are items that they cannot relate to at all. Vintage collectibles are great for some young collectors because they remind them of a time within their life that they can relate to. Items that are just barely old have a place in the hearts of some younger generations and can be a great transition into a collecting career. Studies have shown that collectors usually begin accumulating items as an interest and as a nostalgic endeavor. Vintage collectables are available all over the place, some are expensive, and some can be found at rock bottom prices if one knows where to look.

  1. Jasper Vespa says:

In the United States, posters did not evolve to the same artistic level. American posters were primarily directed towards basic commercial needs to deliver a written message. However, the advent of the travelling circus brought colorful posters to tell citizens that a carnival was coming to town. But these too were very commercially utilitarian, of average quality, and few saw any real artistic creativity.

  2. Boxing Posters were used in and around the actual venue to advertise the forthcoming fight, date, ticket prices, and usually consisted of pictures of each boxer. Boxing Posters vary in size and vibrancy, but are not usually smaller than 18×22 inches. In the early days few boxing posters survived the actual event and thus they are indeed very collectible and scarce.

  3. The resurgence of comic book popularity in the 1960s led to the mass production of comic book posters in the 1970s and onward. These posters typically feature popular characters in a variety of action poses. The fact that comic books are a niche market means that a given poster usually has a smaller printing run than other genres of poster. Therefore, older posters may be quite sought after by collectors. Promotional posters are usually distributed folded, whereas retail posters intended for home decoration are rolled.
